Helio Super Courier

HELIO SUPER COURIER

N641LW

AIR ATTACK TYPE 1+ and PASSENGER TRANSPORT

CRUISE SPEED:   145 MPH
SLOW FLIGHT:       40 MPH
NORMAL LOITER:  60 MPH
ENDURANCE: Long Range Tanks maximum  10 hours + 1 hour reserve
CABIN CAPACITY:  5 Passengers

When others are grounded due to smoke visibility, the Helio has successfully completed missions. Flying at 1000 feet AGL underneath smoke layers, the Helio safely navigates around fires thanks to the moving-map topo display with GIS fire overlays. Long range tanks allow an airborne team to orbit for 12 hours with radios, infrared and 3D Augmented Reality similar to AWACS.

SUPER STOL (Short Take-Off & Landing) allows the use of backcountry strips adjacent to fires.  Coupled with extended range tanks (10+ hours of fuel) the Helio can stay near the fire and complete a second mission without refueling.

Wing lift enhancing devices: Leading edge slats increase performance allowing the aircraft to fly as slow as 30 MPH. Helicopter-like maneuverability makes flying in mountainous terrain safe. Off field landings can be made in small meadows.  Safely remains on station under the smoke when all other aircraft go home due to visibility.

Loitering for hours: To work a fire is easy for this aircraft. Visibility for the ATGS is great because of the high wing.
